These, unlike dry wood termites, require damp, decaying wood to survive. As the name indicates, dampwood termites thrive in high moisture environment. They are larger in size as compared to most termite varieties and their color may vary from light to dark brown. They mainly infect wood that is in contact with the ground or any other moisture source.
